Wegbeschreibung
Rehlingen-Siersburg, the starting point of the tour, lies at the confluence of the Nied and Saar rivers. From the tower of Siersburg Castle, you can look out over the Saar and Nied valleys and the cultural landscape of the Saar-Niedgau. The route leads through the Haustadt valley past places that have largely retained their village structure and buildings. Chapels such as the Luzia Chapel in Erbringen or the Wendalinus Chapel in Reimsbach adorn the edge of the cycle route. After crossing a small wood, you reach Nunkirchen. The origins of the village date back to Celtic times. The centre of the village is the mighty, three-aisled "Herz-Jesu" parish church, which was built in neo-Gothic style. Another attraction is the baroque Münchweiler Castle with its extensive castle grounds. After a few kilometres, the most scenic part of the cycle route begins at Scheuern. A short detour leads up to the Schaumberg (571m), from whose 35 metre high viewing tower you have a wonderful view of the surrounding area. Below the mountain, the adventure park with its barefoot path and sound games is a great place to take a short break. The Johann Adams Mill near Theley and the early Gothic abbey church in Tholey, whose origins date back to the 7th century, are well worth a visit. Afterwards, you can stop off at Hofgut Imsbach, which radiates idyllic tranquillity with its pond complex. The cycle path leads past the source of the Nahe near Selbach to Lake Bostalsee. With 120 hectares of water, it is the largest lake in south-west Germany and offers guests many recreational and leisure activities related to water sports.
